Woolcock Construction were invited back to 7 Belvidere Road, Nuriootpa after previously completing a bottling plant and wine storage facility at the property. Client Rocland Wines wanted to make the most of their prime position on Sturt Highway and engaged our team to construct the new Nuriootpa Highway Service Centre Development. This scope of works was something new and fresh for our team and we looked forward to expanding our skills into this area.
The development included:
- X-Convenience service station with a separate canopy and refill station for trucks
- KFC restaurant base build
- McDonalds restaurant earthworks
- Electric charging station provisions
- Picnic area
- Truck parking
- Tenancy pylon sign and associated tenancy signage
This was a unique project in that X-Convenience and KFC are very well-known brands with a specific image to uphold. Uniformity in the construction and fitout process was required in order to match the existing stores around the state. This meant the team had to follow precise specifications in the products that were used and how the fit-outs were done.
After the initial works were awarded to Woolcock Construction, the McDonalds site was tendered separately and assigned to another builder. This produced a new challenge for our team, now having to work on the same site as another builder working towards their own goals and deadlines. This added pressure to our time frame, however all staff were able to work together to get each project accomplished.
Although the overall project was pushed past the expected completion date due to the nature of the industry and Covid-19 pandemic at the time, it was completed to the high standard expected from the Woolcock team with all of the necessary specifications. The client was happy with Woolcock’s work and the public have been streaming in to use the service centre and new food restaurants.
